Students will learn about French art and history while touring the city of Paris. This course aims to understand how the western world changed between the medieval period and modernity with an emphasis on France and particularly Paris.

Students will begin the course in Kenosha, then travel to Paris, with short trips to Lyon and Rouen. They will read primary texts from French writers that reflect the enormous shifts in worldview that occurred leading up to and following the French Revolution. Students will expand on this knowledge during the trip to Paris and will tour a number of museums, monuments, and other cultural sites that will allow them to apply and expand their knowledge. Students with minimal or no knowledge of the language will learn and practice basic greetings and expressions, while more advanced students of French will use their skills to serve as interpreters. There are no prerequisites for this course.

This course fulfills the CL and ITL requirements.
