Professor Quintez specializes in contemporary Iberian cinema and photography with a particular focus on Catalonia. Her research explores urban transformations in Barcelona in relation to different perceived forms or degrees of belonging made visible through ideas of citizenship and civic responsibility, immigration and migration. Other current research is focused on representations of family, friendship, and extended or imagined community in contemporary Peninsular film and considers these different forms of communities of care in relation to gender, class, and the ongoing crisis of capitalism.
