Learn more about J-Term at Carthage
Favorite class
“My favorite course so far was Symphonic Literature that I took during J-Term my freshman year. As a nursing major, my schedule gets pretty full with only nursing-based courses, so taking Symphonic Literature allowed me to dive into my other hobby — music. I got to learn about classical pieces in greater depth and made my own program based on forms of love in Romantic-era pieces for my final.”
Campus involvement
“I am a member of ! I went to an open bid in spring 2025, and I’ve loved being part of my sisterhood since. I also go to the events whenever I have time.”
Unique opportunities
“I went on a study tour to England, more specifically Bath and London. It was for the course Writers in Context. We learned about Jane Austen’s ‘Persuasion’ and Virginia Woolf’s ‘A Room of One’s Own.’ We got to visit destinations during our free days, like Big Ben, Stonehenge, Buckingham Palace, and many more.”
Internships or campus employment
“I work at the Nursing Lab on campus as a lab assistant. I help ensure the lab is ready for simulations and provide guidance and feedback to other nursing students during lab time. I also give tours to prospective nursing students when they come to the lab.”
Favorite memory
“One of my favorite memories from Carthage was the drone show they did during the 2025-26 Kickoff Days. I had such a fun time watching it with my best friend.”
Best study tip
“My best study tip is to get yourself a drink from Starbucks, find a decently quiet area in the library, and try to focus.”
Advice for other students in your major?
“My advice for other nursing majors is not to be afraid to make mistakes. On-campus lab sessions are the time to make mistakes and learn from them with your instructors.”
