Nursing Scholarships
Carthage offers five renewable Nursing Scholarships to incoming freshmen—one covering full tuition and four worth $10,000 per year each. These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrates compassion and quality patient care, and are renewable for four years.

The direct-entry Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Carthage features an elite curriculum designed to incorporate best practices in the education of professional nurses. Graduates will be recognized for their astute clinical judgment, unfailing ethical practice, and outstanding, compassionate care.
How to Apply
Candidates interested in the Nursing Scholarship Program must complete the following no later than November 1.
- Submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials (high school transcripts).
- Submit the Nursing Scholarship Application (available in mid-September 2026; to receive updates)
- Submit a 250-word essay: Why do you want to be a nurse? (This is part of the online scholarship application.)
To apply for the nursing scholarship, candidates must intend to major in nursing.
Application Review and Second Round
A Carthage scholarship committee will review your application and high school grades. Qualified applicants will be notified in early November. Successful candidates and their families will be invited to the second round of the Nursing Scholarship Program, which will take place on the Carthage campus on Saturday, November 15. The second-round event includes completing a conversation with a member of the Carthage nursing faculty and a short essay. Participation is a requirement for consideration for the Nursing Scholarship.
The full-tuition Nursing Scholarship incorporates all Carthage assistance. Scholarships and grants may be combined with federal and state grants, not to exceed full tuition. Carthage also offers additional scholarships. See our scholarship page for details.
