Carthage awards one full-tuition per year Communication/Public Relations Scholarship each year to an incoming student who demonstrates ability in communication and public relations, and is renewable for four years.

The close-knit community of faculty and students stems naturally from our liberal arts atmosphere and is deepened through the activities of hands-on science. In addition to submitting the scholarship application, you must also apply for admission.

The Majors

If you are interested in animation, art, dance, film and new media, graphic design, music, musical theatre, photography, or theatre, you should apply for to the Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship instead.


How to Apply

Candidates interested in the Communication/Public Relations Scholarship Program must complete the following no later than November 1:

  • Submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials (high school transcripts).
  • Submit the Communication/Public Relations Scholarship Application. (available in mid-September 2026; to receive updates)

  • Submit a one-page essay: Explain why you are interested in communication and/or public relations (This is part of the online scholarship application.)

To apply for a Communication/Public Relations Scholarship, candidates must intend to major in communication or public relations. 


Application Review

The communication and public relations faculty and the Office of Admissions will review your application and high school grades. Qualified applicants will be notified in early November. Successful candidates and their families will be invited to the Communication/Public Relations Scholarship Program second round event on Friday, November 14, 2025.

The Communication/Public Relations Scholarship incorporates all Carthage assistance. Scholarships and grants may be combined with federal and state grants, not to exceed full tuition. Carthage also offers additional scholarships. See our scholarship page for details.
