Building on his extensive language work in high school, he earned the Carthage Modern Language Scholarship. “Receiving this scholarship was both a recognition of my commitment and an affirmation that Carthage valued my academic interests,” he says.

Why Carthage?

“With my lofty ambitions for an undergraduate program, I searched for an institution that not only promised everything I needed but could also deliver on those promises. Carthage presented itself to me as that very solution. For me, Carthage served as the practical intersection between my goals for undergraduate coursework, post-graduate employment, and everything in between.”

Faculty mentors

“PǴڱǰ Chao Zheng and Jon Mrowiec, among many other notable professors, have been critical to my success both in and out of the classroom. Their willingness to invest in students, whether through challenging coursework, thoughtful feedback, or one-on-one conversations, has pushed me to grow not only as a student but as an individual.”

Unique opportunities

“Among the many opportunities I have been given at Carthage, a few include traveling to Europe to attend an international finance conference and to Thailand to attend a global competition for college entrepreneurs. Domestically, I have attended private conferences hosted by the Chicago Board Options Exchange, where I learned from leading academics and industry professionals, including speakers from renowned institutions such as Rama Cont of Oxford University and even theoretical physicist turned trader Euan Sinclair of Hull Tactical Asset Allocation. In terms of personal endeavors, I had the opportunity to compete in the CFA Institute Research Challenge, in which my team and I researched and made stock recommendations to a panel of accredited CFA investment professionals, earning a podium finish within the regional competition.”

Career goal

“My goal is to pursue a master’s program following my time at Carthage and a career in quantitative finance. With strong interests in mathematics, finance, and computer science, this path represents the natural intersection of the disciplines I’ve been most drawn to throughout my academic career. What makes this goal especially meaningful is how clearly my time at Carthage has shaped it. Through coursework, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to apply what I’ve learned in real-world settings, I’ve been able to develop both the technical foundation and the confidence required to pursue such a demanding field.”
