Maeve Wojcik ’25 majored in allied health science at Carthage, where she benefited from opportunities to join campus organizations, continue playing , and receive strong mentorship from her professors — experiences that helped prepare her for the next stage of her education.
She is now pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois Chicago, gaining hands-on experience as a student physical therapist in the Department of Physical Therapy.
Ms. Wojcik values staying connected to the Carthage community and maintains close relationships with former classmates, faculty, and teammates.
What have you enjoyed most about your career?
“I have enjoyed beginning my career path. Pursuing my Doctor of Physical Therapy is showing me how physical therapy can impact and improve the quality of life and health of so many individuals from a diverse population.”
How did Carthage prepare you?
“T small class sizes and well-rounded education played a large part in my success. The close relationships with my classmates and professors helped me deepen my understanding of content while building my professional network.”
What opportunities were made possible because of your Carthage experience?
“Carthage’s commitment to both education and extracurriculars made it possible for me to play college basketball and join clubs — such as the , , and Student Athlete Advisory Committee — while succeeding in the classroom.”
What Carthage professors played a part in your success and how?
“T faculty in the Allied Health Science Department were key in my admittance to all of the graduate programs I applied to. Whether it was letters of recommendation, mock interview prep, or helping me through the application process — their support made my success possible.”
Tips for current Carthage students?
“Things can seem very hard in the moment and sometimes even impossible; that is okay. Things that make you better aren’t meant to be easy, so take a breath. You can do it.”
