Radiation therapy is a highly specialized healthcare profession focused on treating cancer and certain non-cancerous conditions using carefully targeted radiation. Radiation therapists work closely with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to deliver safe, precise treatments that destroy cancer cells while protecting healthy tissue.

Academic pathway

The Allied Health Science Department provides the academic preparation and structured advising that is needed to successfully enter competitive radiation therapy programs.

Our 3 + 1 curriculum model is intentionally designed for student success:

  • Years 1-3: Complete allied health science major coursework and general education requirements
  • Final Year: Focus on specialized radiation therapy coursework and immersive clinical placements

Through our clinical partnership with Northwestern Memorial Hospital, students gain high-quality clinical training experiences that support eligibility for the American Registry for Radiation Therapy (ARRT) certification.
