Diagnostic medical sonographers are highly skilled imaging professionals who use advanced ultrasound technology to produce images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. These real-time images help physicians and healthcare providers diagnose, monitor, and manage medical conditions

Academic pathway

The Allied Health Science Department provides the academic preparation and structured advising needed to successfully enter competitive sonography programs.

Our 3 + 1.5 curriculum model is intentionally designed for student success:

  • Years 1-3: Complete allied health science major coursework and general education requirements
  • Final 1.5 Years: Focus on specialized diagnostic medical sonography coursework and immersive clinical placements

Through our clinical partnership with Northwestern Memorial Hospital, students gain high-quality clinical training experiences that support eligibility for American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification.
