Criminal Justice

Sierra Weber ’28 has found her passion at Carthage through her major in criminal justice. While her younger self wanted to become a ballerina, she now wants to become a victim’s advocate, so she can provide support and care to victims. With the help of her student success advisor, Sierra has strengthened her time-management skills, developed healthy strategies to relieve stress, and sharpened her focus in the classroom.

Sierra has also embraced her new surroundings and the sense of community she’s found in Kenosha. “I love it in downtown Kenosha. The lake is beautiful, and there are so many nice shops and food places to explore.”

“I chose Carthage because of the beautiful campus, the tight-knit community, and the resources Carthage has to offer. It’s also close to home and my family.”

Favorite class

“My favorite class so far is Creative Writing. It shaped me as a writer and made me see how writing is something I am good at. It was the first class I took that excited me and encouraged me to keep applying myself.”

Toughest class

“The toughest class for me was Functions, Graphs, and Analysis. Math is not my strong suit, but I believe a professor can significantly influence my success in a class, especially when their teaching style aligns with my personal learning style.”

Career goal

“I would like to be a victim’s advocate to truly help those going through hardships feel seen and valued.”

Favorite spot on campus

“I like the Hedberg Library basement because it’s a quiet and comfortable environment.”

Favorite memory

“My favorite moments are all the times I get to hang out with my friends. I also love the welcome events at the beginning of the year.”

Best study tip

“Stay focused, do not over stress, and purchase a planner because they actually help.”

Best tip for making friends

“Put yourself out there during classes; the good people will gravitate toward you.”
