“The sense of care and connection makes Carthage feel like more than just a college — it feels like a second home and a place where I truly belong.”

Why Carthage?

“I chose Carthage because it felt like a place where I could not only grow academically but also personally. Carthage values relationships, meaningful learning, and has a strong sense of community. When looking for a college, I wanted a place where I could earn a degree in an environment where I felt supported, welcomed, and challenged. Another big reason I chose Carthage was because of the small classes, which give me the opportunity to connect with my professors.”

Faculty mentors

“The Carthage faculty have played a major role in my academic and personal growth. They challenge me to think critically and encourage me to pursue opportunities such as internships and leadership roles. Their belief in my potential has motivated me to step out of my comfort zone.”

Career goal

“I would love to get an internship with a sports team. I want to explore different areas of sports management to figure out what I’m most passionate about, whether that’s marketing, management, or something else. By gaining hands-on experience, I hope to build skills and connections that will help me in my career goal of working with a professional team.”

Favorite spot on campus

“My favorite spot on campus is by the Kissing Rock. It is a nice, peaceful place to go where I can just be at one with myself and not have to worry about anything. It is a spot that has helped me reset and stay motivated during the semester.”

Favorite memory

“Some of my favorite memories have come from hanging out with friends in the dorms. Being able to just talk, laugh, and relax is always a good time.”

Biggest surprise

“The biggest surprise so far has been how quickly Carthage felt like home. I was surprised by how supportive the community is and how easy it is to branch out and connect with people, not just in the classroom, but also outside. When I first came here, I did not expect to build such strong connections with classmates and floormates.”

What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?

“I think my 8-year-old self would be proud of me. She would see someone who kept going even when things were challenging. I think she would be happy to know that I am learning, growing, and becoming more confident in myself. Most of all, my younger self would be excited that I followed my love for sports and continue to be more kind, determined, and true to who I am.”
