Professor Farid Benmouffok studied at Sorbonne Université (formerly Université Pierre et Marie Curie) and graduated with a Licence de Mathématiques fondamentales. After graduation, he attended Sorbonne Université (formerly Université Pierre et Marie Curie) and École Polytechnique and achieved a master’s degree in mathematical modeling, specializing in optimization and game theory, and a master’s degree in statistics and data science, working under advisor Patrick Louis Combettes, Ph.D.

Prof. Benmouffok came to the U.S. to continue his graduate studies in mathematics at North Carolina State University under Patrick Louis Combettes, Ph.D., during which he researched extensively in non-linear analysis and, more specifically, convex optimization and its applications in the data science field.

Post-graduation, Prof. Benmouffok worked as a research data analyst at the University of Chicago and as an adjunct professor of mathematics at Harold Washington College in Chicago. He joined Ðǿմ«Ã½ in fall 2025.

In his free time, Prof. Benmouffok enjoys running, playing and watching soccer, and spending time with family.
