Carthage Mock Trial teams complete invitational tournament season
Carthage Mock Trial teams competed in several “virtual pandemic” invitational tournaments for the fall 2020-21 season. Both Carthage Black and Carthage Red began the season on Oct. 16-18 at Loras College. Andrew Kline ’22 won an Outstanding Attorney Award on both the plaintiff and defense sides of the case in his first college mock trial competition.
On Nov. 7-8, Carthage Black represented the College at Creighton University while Carthage Red was at the University of Mississippi. Both teams competed next at Hamline University on Nov. 14-15 and finished the invitational season at St. Bonaventure University in New York on Jan. 30-31. Team member Annie Ewart ’22 won an Outstanding Attorney Award at the final competition.
In addition to participating in the tournament, both teams honed their skills through virtual scrimmages with the University of Southern California and Marquette.
The teams will move on to the Regional Tournament the weekend of Feb. 27-28. If they succeed, they will then have the opportunity to advance to the Opening Round Championship Series for the third consecutive year. Carthage Black will compete at Florida State while Carthage Red will compete at Brown University.
